Save Sterling guide

How to check a discount code works

How to tell whether a UK discount code is accepted, and what to look at in the basket before you pay.

The only reliable check

Add what you actually meant to buy, then enter the code and read the new total. A code works for that basket only if the discount is shown before you pay.

A page that says a code is popular, or that it was checked on some other day, is not the same as your shop accepting it today.

Why a code can fail

It may be for new customers, a higher spend, or products you have not added. It may exclude sale items, delivery, or gift cards.

If the total does not change, remove the code or leave the checkout. Do not pay and hope the shop will correct it afterwards.

What Save Sterling shows

Offers on this site are examples until a real offer is published. An example has no code you can use and no link to a shop.

When a real code is published, the page should show the expiry, the exclusions, and when it was last checked. That still does not promise the code will work on your basket.

When affiliate programmes are open, labelled links on Save Sterling may earn us a commission and help keep the site free. This guide does not link to a retailer. Example offers cannot be claimed. How we stay free.
