How to use voucher codes in the UK

How to apply a UK voucher code, what to read before you pay, and why a code is only useful if you already needed the item.

What you are actually using

A voucher code is a short set of letters or numbers you type in at checkout. If the shop accepts it, the discount should show in the order total before you pay.

Save Sterling lists example offers so you can see the layout. Those examples are not live codes, and they cannot be claimed.

Read the rules first

Check who can use it. New customers only, a minimum spend, selected products, or delivery exclusions can all change what you actually save.

A large percentage off is not the same as a lower price. Compare the delivered total, including any subscription or recurring charge.

At the checkout

Apply the code before you pay and look at the basket. If the discount does not appear, do not assume it will be added later.

Do not add items you did not want just to reach a minimum spend. That can turn a code into extra spending.

Codes and cashback

A discount code and a cashback offer do not always work together. The cashback provider’s own terms decide that, not the headline on a deals page.

Save Sterling does not guarantee that a code will be accepted, or that you will pay less than shopping elsewhere.
